Eve of Ashleigh 26When Darian finally stopped forcing Ashleigh to walk, she was able to lift her eyes from keeping a watch on the ground before her to behold a group of human and created standing in the middle of the Created village's town square.
Downbeat was there, fur bristled and lips drawn back to let the growl in his throat out at the humans across from him. Only Ryskater's hold on his shoulders was holding him back from whatever he wanted to do and by the expression in his eyes it wasn't good. Eve of Ashleigh 25Sunrises on Huo, unlike Earth, came in two stages. First the gas giant edged over the horizon in the south-west, tossing a yellow glow onto everything not protected by trees or otherwise in shadow. The sky became a dirty green, gaining more blue as the true sun rose in the north and began to cast its light onto the rich vegetation on the moon. When the two light sources were in just the right position it created a prismatic affect that dazzled the eye and distorted every perceived color in the landscape. Eve of Ashleigh 24Ashleigh blinked a few times, looking around them at the, to her, pitch black darkness.  "Uh, Downbeat--"
"I'm right here," he murmured, touching her arm gently.  "Don't worry. We're alone, as far as I can tell, and it smells like we're back on Huo."  He started to fuss with something she couldn't see.
"What're you doing?" She asked, blinking a few more times to get her sight to adjust faster.
"Trying to find something to tie the crystals together-- I only went back last time because they fell apart."

Eve of Ashleigh 23"Do you believe him?" Downbeat asked quietly.
"I don't know what to believe," Ashleigh sighed, leaning her shoulder against his so she could rest their heads together. His furry warmth was as comforting as it ever had been and she was glad that at least that had stayed the same. They were sitting in her quarters on her bed, Grove having decided that everyone needed some time to think about what had just happened. Eve of Ashleigh 22Awareness came all at once and Ashleigh thrashed, trying to get away from the feeling of paralysis.  Nausea came in a rush, prompting a gag.  Hands helped her sit up quickly and she choked, barely suppressing the urge to throw up.  "Oh God," she choked, leaning against the person helping her, "I'm gonna hurl."
"That'll happen," a kind voice murmured.  "Take deep, even breaths."

Eve of Ashleigh 21Downbeat stumbled as the ship shuddered again. He grabbed a nearby console to right himself, glancing at Grove to find reassurance in his expression-- only there was none. The human's face was tight and worried, something that sent a chill right through Downbeat. He didn't want to break his concentration, however, so he simply strapped himself into the nearest seat and gazed at the console before him, attempting to make heads or tails of the readouts before him. Well, it's upon us.

I'll be posting what I write each day here. Please, before you comment, keep in mind that none of this will be edited. It will be barely spell checked. This isn't for structure, this is for getting the idea on the table.

to most of my submissions going forward-- please please. I really don't like random favorites and I do try to comment on what I favorite each time. Thanks!

Edit: 18th. Finally worked out the ending and outlined it. Today was dominated by bad stomach and bad head, so not much else got done. But I'm still ahead of schedule and well within the ability to end by the 30th.
